Category I tractors

Category I (Cat I) is the dominant 3-point hitch standard for compact tractors in the 20-45 PTO HP range. Pin diameters are 7/8 inch lower and 3/4 inch top link, with a standard 28 inch lift arm spacing. Kubota L Series, Kioti CK and DK Series, Massey Ferguson 1700M, and most utility-compact tractors use Cat I.

Cat I gives you the broadest selection of attachments at the best prices, rotary cutters, tillers, post hole diggers, box blades, finish mowers, and seeders are all manufactured in volume for this hitch standard. Most aftermarket and brand-name implements ship Cat I as the default.

• Some 'Cat I' tractors actually have Limited Cat I lift arm spacing, always check the lift arm width spec.
• Lift capacity at 24 inches behind the lower link arms is the meaningful figure, not lift at the pin.
• A Cat I tractor with under 18 PTO HP is power-limited for most rotary cutters above 48 inches.
