Mahindra is the best-selling tractor brand in the world by unit volume, and in the North American compact segment it competes on price, warranty, and a surprisingly wide model range. That range is also what trips buyers up: the sub-compact eMax , the workhorse 1600 series , the mid-compact 2600 series , and the utility-class 4500 / 5500 / 6000 all use different hitch, PTO, and loader combinations. This guide is the series-by-series breakdown of what actually bolts up.

Mahindra's compact and utility lineup splits four ways. Get the family right first - the attachment shortlist follows from it.
The eMax series competes with the Kubota BX and JD 1025R. It's a Category 1 hitch with a 540 RPM PTO and roughly 16–19 PTO HP - plenty for light property maintenance, not enough for continuous 6 ft implement work.
What fits: 48–54 inch rotary cutters (5 ft is the practical max), 4–5 ft box blades and rear blades, mid-mount finish mowers, 5 ft landscape rakes, 48 inch tillers, and post-hole diggers with 6–9 inch augers. A 48 inch pallet fork works with light loads.
What doesn't fit: anything demanding 25+ PTO HP (larger tillers, heavy flail mowers, small round balers), Cat 2 implements, or grapples heavier than about 500 lb empty - the loader runs out of lift before you get anything useful in the jaws.
The 1600 series is the Mahindra sweet spot for 5–15 acre hobby farms. Still Cat 1, still 540 PTO, but with real 3-point lift (~1,500 lb) and enough PTO horsepower on the 1635 and 1640 to comfortably run 5–6 ft implements.
What fits: 5–6 ft rotary cutters (the 1640 handles a 6 ft cutter in tall grass), 5–6 ft box and rear blades, 5 ft tillers, 6 ft snow blades on the 3-point, root grapples up to 54 inch, 48 inch pallet forks, and 5 ft flail mowers. Post-hole diggers 9–12 inch. A single round-bale spear is realistic on a 1640.
Watch-outs: rear remotes are optional on lower trims - confirm at least one rear SCV before buying a top-link cylinder, dump trailer, or hydraulic wood splitter. Total hydraulic flow on the 1626 is modest (~9–10 gpm), so grapples open at a reasonable, not fast, pace.
The 2600 series pushes into 30+ PTO HP with ~2,000 lb of 3-point lift - the range where 6 ft implements go from "possible" to "comfortable" and where a hydraulic third function becomes worth spec'ing from the factory.
What fits: 6 ft rotary cutters, 6 ft tillers, 6 ft box blades, 7 ft rear blades, 6 ft flail mowers, root grapples up to 60 inch, 48–60 inch pallet forks with heavier loads, and small round balers (4x4 dry hay) with a matched baler.
The 4500-and-up range crosses from "compact tractor" into "small utility." Bigger 3-point lift (2,500–4,400 lb), more PTO HP, and - starting with the 6075 and 6000-series SP variants - Category 2 hitch geometry. This is where the shopping question changes from "what fits a compact?" to "is this Cat 1 or Cat 2?"
What fits: 6–7 ft rotary cutters (the 5155 spins a heavy 7 ft brush hog), 6–7 ft tillers, 6–7 ft box blades and land planes, 8 ft rear blades, 6–7 ft flail mowers, 3–4 bottom plows, mid-size round balers, and 1,200–2,000 lb rated grapples. The ML-series loaders will lift a full pallet of pavers at the pin.
